Dear Green Smoothies,
You rock. You rock my socks! Every morning after my workouts, I head to the blender with excitement (and sweat!) ready to make my delicious concoction. “What will it be today?” I ask myself. The options are never ending! Almond milk, soy milk, whey protein, ground flax, apples, bananas, peaches and berries of all sorts. I could go on and on about the great possibilities but this is suppose to be a letter; not a novel. With joy, I add each ingredient and do a little sing-song in my head “1 cup of almond milk, 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds, one full banana, 1 cup of strawberries, and blend!” As these ingredients blend together, I head to my fridge to get the most important ingredient of all: spinach. (I have dabbled around with other ?greens? such as kale and lettuce (romaine). But I have quickly realized that my heart belongs to spinach.)
With the blender still humming, I add the spinach and this is when the magic happens! At first the mix looks a bit choppy but pretty soon it turns into a lovely green beauty! I let the blender hum for a little time longer; just to make sure consistency is smooth. Also, depending on the time, my little one is up and he likes to hum along with the blender (sometimes I join him!). Once the blender has done its job, I get my glass ready and begin to pour, grab a straw from the cupboard, and begin to enjoy the deliciousness. Once I am full, I pour the rest from the blender to have for later in the day!
Because of you, I am getting more of my fruit and vegetable intake, my skin has a healthy glow, and I feel energized. Most importantly, you?re a low calorie ?meal? (maybe 150-200 calories per serving) that satisfies my hunger!
