Recent Reads: One of Us is Lying
While I am way past the demographic for it, Young Adult Fiction continues to be one of my favorite genres. But soon my sons will be in middle and high school and I feel like reading these books help me relate to what they may deal with. First off, I want to start by saying,”Life does not end in high school!” I know this is really hard and difficult to realize when you’re into the mix of it but man, things will get better.
One of Us is Lying is a whodunit novel about a boy, Simon, who dies horribly while serving detention with four other students. Each of them have their own motive for why they would want him dead.
This is the first book in a while where I liked all the characters but stayed skeptical because one of them had to be the killer. I got through this book within a few days and I’m not sure if it’s because I enjoyed it or because I wanted to see who did it.
I was a little disappointed with the ending but overall a really great read.
But as I said, high school is not the end all be all. And parents, lets stop screwing up our kids and just love them.
