Tour of Homes: Columbia’s Largest Open House of New Homes

One of my main goals within the next six months is to purchase a home for the boys and myself so when I was asked to take part in the Building Industry Association of South Carolina Tour of Homes the timing was perfect. When we first moved to SC, we lived in a new neighborhood development and I loved walking through the houses as they were being built and seeing the final look.

The event is happening over three weekends (you have two more weekends to check them out (9/19-20, and 9/26-9/27) and the open houses are throughout the midlands area. (Check out the map here).

This past weekend we (my sister and my sons) checked out the West Columbia area. Our first stop was St Anns Alley.

From their website: “St. Anns Alley is an in-town community of 34 single-family homes in the booming West Columbia River District developed by Spring Street Partners. St Anns Alley is bounded by Center, Spring, Herman and Augusta streets. The new community takes its name from the St. Ann’s Rescue Mission, a home for boys, that was located in this area during the late 1800s.”

The houses are located in the River District of West Columbia and are walking distance to the local shops and restaurants on State Street and the surrounded areas and less than a 10 minute drive from other attractions such as Riverbanks Zoo and the State Museum.

Tile showers, walls, and floors, granite countertops, and brushed nickel accessories.

Carpet bedrooms , closets, hall, and stairs.

In love with this porch. So much plant potential. And the painted ceilings? Yes, please!

Give me all the natural light.

The exterior (their goal was to make the houses fit in with the surrounding homes) and colorful houses beautifully add to the charm of this neighborhood.

Our next stop was Flow Townhomes.

Living in this gated community gives you “One of a kind views of the Columbia Skyline and Saluda/Congaree Rivers.” It is also within walking distances to local shops and restaurants and a short drive to local attractions.
