MCCALL 8150 – McCall’s Tillary Tiered Skirt
As I started to write this, I thought about my journey with dresses and skirts. When I was younger, my mom would put me in dresses and skirts all the time and I used to love wearing them. Around 4th or 5th grade,I started to become more aware of my looks and body and never thought of myself as pretty (ugh, a girl’s self-esteem is damaged way too early) and became very tomboyish. I don’t know why but I associated skirts and dresses with being girly/pretty so they were a no go for me . For a few years, probably until my junior year in high school, I didn’t do skirts or dresses. Now, they are some of my favorite things to wear.
I’ve been wanting to make a ruffled, tiered skirt for quite some time. Like most garments, this skirt can look very intimidating but it was one of the easiest things I ever made! The only thing I would change is using a zipper instead of elastic in the waist.
The top and shoes are thrifted. I felt they deserved recognition as well.
