My Life

Growth and Stillness

I’m currently in a 300hr yoga teacher training program and sometimes we are given journal prompts. We  were asked, “What is your relationship to growth? How do you know when you’re growing? What is Your relationship to stillness? I’m sharing below what I wrote in my journal:

My relationship with growth is “It’s complicated.” In certain aspects of my life, I feel myself growing and getting better and then other moments I feel stagnant and unsure. I know I am growing when I handle situations different from I did in the past; when I  embrace things and not just allow it to be. I know I am growing by how I am raising and treating my sons. Their relationship with me is the most important in my life. My relationship with stillness needs and could be better. Granted, I do not have a lot of free time to myself so when I have a moment of stillness, I usually fill it up with an activity. I have been struggling lately even with guided meditations. My mind continues to wander and I just can’t get into the moment.
