Self-Created Podcast Episode 41: Vintage Geek out With Sandra Michaan of Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire

It’s our first guest of 2020!!

If we had to chose words to describe our Love Language, “Vintage” would be one of them. And it is definitely the love language of our guest today! Sandra Michaan is the creator of Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire, a vintage fashion extravaganza that takes place twice a year. The event is March 13-14th at Michaan’s Annex Auction Showroom, 2701 Monarch Street, Alameda, CA 94501 in historic Alameda Point. The event happens in a hangar. Yes, A HANGAR!!

From their site:
“The Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire is featuring 70 + booths showcasing a wide array of women’s & men’s clothing, couture, jewelry, accessories, textiles, fine linens and more. The VFF is your BFF for Vintage since 2010 & your Bay Area source for fashions and accessories from every era!”

In this episode we talked about how Sandra got into vintage, her tips for a beginner, what pieces you should invest in, how accessories and layers can really change/revamp an outfit, and her thoughts on sustainability and how the younger generation is tackling it (hint: they’re doing great!).

Also, thanks to Sandra, Shanika now has something new to keep an eye out for when scouring her favorite thrifting haunts.
