Shanika Pichey, 500hr RYT | Assisted Stretching | IASTM | Reiki
In her early 20’s, Shanika began her yoga journey and quickly became fascinated by the human body’s ability to perform the kind of intricate poses yoga encompasses.
After many years in practice and contemplation, Shanika followed her desire and began training to become an instructor. She received her 200hr YTT with Sakhi Yoga where her love for yoga deepened. Through this training, Shanika was awakened to the importance of practicing yoga both on and off the mat.
Feeling enlightened but still curious, Shanika enrolled with Indra Yoga Institute to further her education. While studying, her view of yoga shifted. She answered the call to become more involved within her community in an effort to make yoga accessible for all bodies and has kept that goal central in her work.
She has facilitated both studio and private classes. Through work with a local middle school, she has been able to introduce a younger generation, in a community that is often underserved, to the power of yoga.
Shanika received her 500hr RYT in 2021. In addition, she has received training in IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization), Assisted Stretching, and Reiki.
Through the use of movements done in tandem with breath, the practitioner will help the client work to improve mobility and flexibility of certain muscles or groups of muscle. Sessions are customized to the client’s needs and may incorporate additional techniques such as Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). New clients will need to complete an online questionnaire prior to attending their first session. For optimal mobility, please wear comfortable clothing.
Mini Stretch – 15 mins
These sessions will focus on a specific region of the upper or lower body.
Full Stretch – 30 mins
These sessions will provide a full upper and lower body stretch.
Yoga classes are available in two formats: as a private lesson with one-on-one instruction or as a group session with multiple attendees. Our time on the mat will conclude with Savasana.
Sessions are customized to meet the needs of the client (meditation, breathwork, alignment, exploring new poses or techniques, etc.). Hands-on assistance is provided as needed.
